When Hurley was 3 years old, his parents died together from gas poisoning, making him an orphan in an instant. His kind uncle took him in, and Hurley lived with his uncle and aunt-in-law from then on. They are both farmers, honest and hardworking, but the family still has financial difficulties.
Hurley studies hard at school, and although his grades are moderate, he is willing to try his best.
