For those of you who have a heart for the children of Ukraine, we are making a request for some additional support for a family who is experiencing exceptional hardship. Lyuba Novostavska, the mother of three children, was abandoned during the war. Her eldest child, Orest, suffers from hemophilia and is wheelchair-bound. He had a hemorrhage in his leg some months ago and has been in and out of the hospital, having lost consciousness and requiring blood transfusions. The condition of his leg is worse; however, the hospital has sent him home with prescribed treatment. The loss of blood has affected his circulatory system and Orest needs to lie flat. He receives intravenous injections twice a day. He can not take care of himself and his mother has had to spoon-feed him at times. Orest also suffers from panic attacks, often typical of children of war. Orest has two young siblings that need care thus compounding the challenges for Lyuba. We are seeking financial assistance for the family to alleviate some of the burden on her shoulders. Lyuba expressed her gratitude in advance for any support. Our partner in Ukraine, Lviv Central Baptist Church has been checking on the family and will continue to give us updates.

Note that we met Orest and his family during our November 2022 visit to Ukraine. He was friendly and cheerful. He expressed that he dearly loves his younger brother and sister and mother. Orest also told us that he loves Rocky Balboa, the iconic Philadelphia fighter. We pray for Orest’s fight.
